Sustainable mutual fund flows in Europe reached a record high at €129bn up 33% vs Q4 2020. Both active and passive fund flows reached a record high respectively at €92bn and €37bn. Active funds gathered the strongest part of inflows (71%), yet passive fund flows show the highest momentum up 47% vs Q42020 vs +27% for active funds.
Concerning sustainable equity funds, the flows have increased by 21% vs Q4-2020. Both active and passive fund flows reached a record high respectively at €52bn and €26bn. Active funds gathered the strongest part of inflows (70%), yet passive fund flows show the highest momentum up 36% vs Q42020 vs +14% for active funds.
And interestingly, for sustainable fixed-income funds, the flows also reached a record high in Q1 2021 at €32bn up by 59% vs the previous quarter. Both active and passive fund flows reached a record high respectively at €21bn and €11bn. Passive fund flows again show the highest momentum up 84% vs Q42020 vs +48% for active funds.
👉Even in sustainable funds, both active and passive have a role to play in portfolio.
