ππππππ: Sustainable fund assets increased overall by 34% in 2020 vs 2019, rising to β¬1.1trn at the end of December 2020 (Source Morningstar, as of 18/1/21). Passive share increased by 1 point to reach 21%.
Equity funds represent the bulk of sustainable fund assets with nearly 2/3 of the total assets. For this asset class, the share of passive is bigger at 30% and has also increased by 1 point vs 2019.
In fixed income, the share of passive funds is smaller by 13%, yet it has gained 3 points in 2020.
π ππππ: Sustainable fund flows increased significantly in 2020 to reach β¬226bn up 82% vs 2019. The share of active funds in total flows rose to 73% vs 66% at the end of 2019. This is mainly coming from a huge increase in the share of equity active fund flows in total equity flows at 65% vs 45% in 2019, while the share of fixed income active fund flows stayed stable at 77%.
